Two interesting arms in the Mets arsenal. Peavey's solid mechanics and four+ pitch repertoire keep the door to MLB unlocked. Ultimately, he does have to find some success at the Triple-A, but that could mean something as simple as finding the key to his cutter, which he throws as a supplemental pitch in conjunction with his slider. His plus pitches are a just that with his two-seamer displaying movement and clocking out in the 92-94 mph range. He has nothing left to prove at the Double-A level as he was clearly a consistent and even dominant starter for the B-Mets last season. After some experimenting with the bullpen in 2013, where he did find some success, the Mets apparently decided to move Peavey back to a starter role in 2014. A hard worker and pitching academic, Peavey is on-track to make a statement at Las Vegas this season. Gorski is also a strong candidate for the 5th starter spot due to his being a lefty In case no one's noticed, the Mets system is thin when it comes to southpaws. He is a finesse pitcher with almost four+ seasons of minor league appearances. Both of these pitchers can make a statement slotting in behind Montero, Syndergaard and Matz. In fact, they are likely front-runners to kick things off in April.

It was with great sadness that we acknowledged the shuttering of Waimea Country Club in June of 2102. The course was both blessed and cursed by its location in the highlands about seven miles above Waimea. Maintaining a golf operation is quite expensive, especially in Hawaii, and location and weather play a key role in attracting steady, sustainable business. Regretfully, the course is unlikely to ever re-open.
As of the end of March 2013, the Kona Country Club closed its Ocean Course for renovations. The course is supposed to have a new irrigation system installed and is tentatively scheduled to reopen during Spring 2014. However, to the best of our knowledge, there has been little accomplished thus far. Management thought the closing of the Ocean Course would drive more business to their less popular Mountain Course, but such was not the case, and on June 9, 2013, the course hosted its final rounds of golf. It appears the Mountain Course (aka Ali'i Course) may well be shuttered permanently.

HawaiiGolfDeals will quote as many rounds of golf as you would like to play throughout the calendar year. Some restrictions may apply.
For packages which include lodging and Alamo vehicle, a minimum of three nights lodging, three days of vehicle rental and three rounds of golf are required.

A NOTE ABOUT COURSE CLOSURES ON MAUI
Unlike most businesses that cater to the public, golf course developers are notorious for building courses without regard to demographics. Costco, Safeway and mall developers study the ebb and flow of population and examine competitive sets with a keen eye. Not so for golf courses. In actuality, there is not a 36-hole facility in Hawaii that wouldn't have been better off with a 27-hole layout and an aggressive plan for utilization. Furthermore, Hawaii golf courses, for the most part, have a pricing strategy that does not consider softening prices in a down economy or creating marketing synergies that peak consumer interest with real and perceived value in a manner conducive to attracting on-going and repeat business. Mismanagement has also been a serious issue.

"The Garden Island" is no longer the golf heaven it once was. Over the past several years, there have been as many as 45 resort holes closed concurrently. In 2012, the last of the 18 hole layouts reopened leaving nine resort holes shuttered forever, according to the operator. Unfortunately, the island's golf properties offer very little value to visitors seeking wall-to-wall golf. Their terrific municipal course is worthwhile on weekdays. We would have to say that Kauai is a charming island to visit for a very short stay. Our advice is plan a visit for 3-5 days and then head to The Big Island, Maui or Oahu for some real golf action and exceptional value.

Unfortunately, Internet scam artists are out there. So, here are some very important things you should know about these sharp operators and copycat golf “deals” in Hawaii:
BEWARE OF NO ADDED-VALUES AND HIGHER PRICES!
No other entity can beat HawaiiGolfDeals. Period. But the Internet scam artists try to convince you they have the better deals. Frankly, they're NOT EVEN CLOSE! Do they offer better prices, unlimited golf, range balls, apparel discounts and 90-day tee times? Not a chance. No way!
BEWARE OF A TOKEN DISCOUNT!
“Pretenders” love to claim what is nothing more than a token discount. If you’re looking for $15 off a “retail” rate of $195 for a round of golf or $10 off a $135 retail—some pretenders may have it. In fact, they promote it like it’s something they heavily negotiated. But, that same token discount is usually available through the hotel you're staying at, or by telling the golf staff where you are staying, or even just by simply asking. Some courses, not in our program, will even give you a standard discount just by showing your GOLFHAWAIICARD. How can it hurt to ask?
BEWARE OF AERATION RATES MASQUERADING FOR REAL VALUE
The pretenders are awesome when it comes to misleading golfers. They even use special rates they are given for the 14 days following aeration to sell at low prices without exactly explaining what is going on. Of course, this means they conveniently leave out the fact that these are aeration rates. Don't fall prey to this kind of marketing (and don't say we didn't warn you)!
BEWARE OF THE BAIT AND SWITCH INTO HIGH-PRICED VOUCHERS!
The Internet scam artists grab unsuspecting golf travelers by promoting one thing and immediately trying to switch you to another. HawaiiGolfDeals appalls this classic bait and switch. We don’t offer every course in Hawaii. We are only interested in REAL VALUE. If we do not carry a course, we do not feel it is a value for our cardholders—or—we do not think the maintenance and/or service justifies the greens fee or is up to our standards. BEWARE OF TEE TIME SERVICES!
Tee time services are a totally unwarranted expense and completely unnecessary in Hawaii. Hawaii’s golf courses have loads of available tee times and charge you nothing to make one. Do not waste your time and money on a tee time service!
