"The Garden Island" is no longer the golf heaven it once was. Over the past several years, there have been as many as 45 resort holes closed concurrently. Recently, the last of the 18 hole layouts reopened leaving nine resort holes shuttered forever, according to the operator. Unfortunately, the island's golf properties offer very little value to visitors seeking wall-to-wall golf. Their terrific municipal course is worthwhile on weekdays. We would have to say that Kauai is a charming island to visit for a very short stay. Our advice is plan a visit for 3-5 days and then head to The Big Island, Maui or Oahu for some real golf action and exceptional value.

“Pretenders” love to claim what is nothing more than a token discount. If you’re looking for $15 off a “retail” rate of $195 for a round of golf or $10 off a $135 retail—some pretenders may have it. In fact, they promote it like it’s something they heavily negotiated. But, that same token discount is usually available through the hotel you're staying at, or by telling the golf staff where you are staying, or even just by simply asking. Some courses, not in our program, will even give you a standard discount just by showing your GOLFHAWAIICARD. How can it hurt to ask.
BEWARE OF AERATION RATES MASQUERADING FOR REAL VALUE
The pretenders are awesome when it comes to misleading golfers. They even use special rates they are given for the 14 days following aeration to sell at low prices without exactly explaining what is going on. Of course, this means they conveniently leave out the fact that these are aeration rates. Don't fall prey to this kind of marketing (and don't say we didn't warn you)!
BEWARE OF THE BAIT AND SWITCH INTO HIGH-PRICED VOUCHERS!
The Internet scam artists grab unsuspecting golf travelers by promoting one thing and immediately trying to switch you to another. HawaiiGolfDeals appalls this classic bait and switch. We don’t offer every course in Hawaii. We are only interested in REAL VALUE. If we do not carry a course, we do not feel it is a value for our cardholders—or—we do not think the maintenance andor service justifies the greens fee or is up to our standards .
